I know the first question any statist asks when discussing the abolition of the State, “But, who will build the roads?”
At first glance, this seems like a real clincher of a problem. Though I may not be able to describe detailed solutions, I know we have the tools right now to overcome the problem, or at least start down the correct path.
I’ve heard Mark Edge talk about how Auction Theory can be used to overcome the problems of eminent domain and put the power in the hands of land owners and markets voluntarily.
While researching this topic, I came across another good question: Private policing and private roads: A Coasian approach to drunk-driving policy. That certainly sounds interesting.
Of course, we have borders. That opens up a whole emotional battlefield of issues, but I am not well versed on them. What kinds of questions or philosophies are there to opening up travel across borders?
What about licensing? Once again, I have heard plenty of arguments about licensing, but they are subjects I need to explore more. Do you have any thoughts about that?
What am I missing? I’m sure there are plenty of other good topics. I would really love to hear from you.
